Numerical Study on Supersonic Combustor Using Ethene with Strut and Multi-cavity Combination

The numerical study based on the method of finite volume and equivalence ratio 0.6 has been carried out to investigate the influence of patterns of staggered rear strut and multi-cavity. Mixing efficiency, combustion efficiency, and total pressure loss were compared. The analysis shows that the mixing and combustion are improved for cavities mounted in both tandem and parallel. Parallel cavity can enhance the combustion efficiency by a more appropriate fuel distribution. L/D = 3.5 doesn't have good efficiency and can't shorten chamber length. L/D = 8 has the higher combustion efficiency. Moreover, parallel cavity with L/D = 8 releases heat fast.
