To simulate the hinge moment loaded on the missile rudder during flight, a mechanical load simulator was designed according to the testing requirements of one particular steering engine model. The torsion bar is drove by the electric motor of the steering engine turning back and forth, the design and performance analysis of its key structure the torsion bar were done. Modal analysis was done by Workbench to make ensure that its first order natural frequency was high enough. Fatigue life of the torsion bar was also analyzed. The result verifies that the torsion bar is designed to meet the frequency of use and life requirements.
