Numerical simulation has been carried out to investigate cold flow characteristics of small pylon aided gaseous fuel injection in supersonic combustion. Several patterns were evaluated for mixing enhancement. It is noted that the stream wise vortex zone and low pressure depression behind the pylon are the paramount mechanism for mixing enhancement. The front face and rear face have evident effect on mixing efficiency. The front face provides high vorticity-magnitude swift current but leads to higher total pressure loss. Bigger rear face area can result in higher plume percentage by providing much more low pressure depression.
