Most antitank missiles use free-grain-fed solid rocket motors as propulsion units. At the instant of motor ignition, these missiles have recoil phenomenon against people's experience thoughts, and bigger recoil overload magnitude makes parts of missile-borne components be ineffective, causing failure of flight test. To explain this "abnormal" phenomenon, factors being related with recoil overload magnitude were studied. In this paper, mechanism was analyzed, analysis model was built, calculation analysis was conducted, and the results were compared with the test results. Finally, conclusion and suggestion were formed. It is expected to achieve the goal of guiding igniter design for this type of motor as well as damping design for missile-borne vulnerable parts.
