In order to solve the problem that for a certain barrel, after a certain projectile amount, the serious exfoliation of the chromium layer or even the corrosion of the matrix metal appeared near the origin of rifling, based on the thermal physical parameters of material that vary with temperature, by means of thermal-structural coupling method, the fully equivalent stress and temperature distribution of the barrel in the process of running fire under the joint action of the thermal stress and the gas pressure of the gunpowder were calculated. It was found that the error between the calculated temperature and the measured result was within 7.5%. The amount of heat absorbed near the maximum chamber pressure point of the barrel was the largest, and the temperature there was the highest, and the fully equivalent stress is maximum within the range of the inner wall to 0.3 mm depth from the inner wall.
