When an aerial weapon captures the infrared image at the end of guidance, the gained infrared images have much noise because of complex conditions; witch will greatly affect image processing and analysis. In the paper, an important wavelet threshold algorithm with optimized threshold and improved threshold functions based on the wavelet threshold method was proposed by Donoho and which was applied to the infrared image gained by the aerial weapon. The result and data of the experiment show that the method has reserved the detail of the infrared image and avoided the oscillation. Using the improved wavelet threshold algorithm for infrared image de-noising can enhance the capability of aerial weapon's accurate strike.
