During the process of removing solid propellant from rocket engineer, safety is the most important index. The practicability and hazards of removal of solid propellant using high-pressure water jet were summarized. The ignition mechanism of solid propellant under water jet impact was analyzed on the theory. The results show that the removal of solid propellant with water jet is more dangerous than ordinary explosive, and safety assessment of the removal system should be conducted first.
