The Effect of Bluntness on Lift-drag Ratio of a Hypersonic Waverider Aerocraft

The leading edge would be seriously ablated by the flow as aerocraft was in hypersonic flight, so it must be blunted. But the bluntness would cause changes in the flow field around the aerocraft, which would affect the performance of aerocraft. Numerical simulation was used to prove increasing the radius of the leading edge can reduce the heat flux of it. The effect of the bluntness on the lift-drag ratio of the hypersonic waverider aerocraft was investigated to compare the changes of lift-drag ratio on the condition of different radiuses of leading edge. Investigation showed that bluntness caused the lift-drag ratio decrease, and along with the radiuses of the leading edge increase, the lift-drag ratio of aerocraft reduced more quickly.
