In order to decrease the run time of scene matching system in which the log-polar transformation was employed, the implementation of the LPT for image by FPGA was designed in this paper. Through using the software tools of Quartus II and Matlab, and the language of Verilog, a 64×64 gray image can be transformed to a 50×80 LPT image by FPGA in less than 100us. This design can be treated as a pre-processing front-end of DSP scene matching system when the reference image is matched by a real-time image with rotation and scale changing.
