Airfoil Selection and Aerodynamic Characteristic Analysis of Loitering Munitions

Loitering munitions with aerodynamic surfaces includes wings and rudders, the wings are the main components which provide lift force.In order to research airfoils which have high lift force and high lift-drag ratio, three different two-dimensional models which have circular head and pointed tail were established by using CAD Technology, the models were meshed by using GAMBIT software.Then, dynamics simulation was made by FLUENT software, comparison was made among drag coefficient, lift coefficient and lift-drag ratio, the special points of date were stressed.The result shows that the FX-63-437 airfoil is more favorable in high lift force, high lift-drag ratio and stable flight.
