A Self-adjust Image Matching Tracking System Design Based on DSP and FPGA

Abstract

Based on a TMS320DM642(DSP) and an EP3C25F324C7(FPGA), a self-adjust image matching and tracking system was designed. DSP controls video encode and decode chip, and deals with image store. Template matching calculation and template adjust were accomplished in FPGA. According to image matching result, the system can self-refresh template data and satisfy the need of tracking aim' s displacement, rescale and rotate. The system can avoid image display delay because template matching and refreshment are independent. FPGA parallel calculation process can raise system speed and enlarge template area. The simulation results show that the largest templates of system can get 128 x 128 pixels and the whole system can process 25 image frame of 720 × 625 pixels per second.
