The Design Method of Star Tandem Grain

Abstract

In order to improve the rocket motor loading factor, increase the range, the star tandem grain structure was put forward. Mathematical relationships among initial combustion area, initial aerate parameter, volume backfill coefficient and grain geometry were provided. Parameters of interior ballistic performance of star tandem grain were calculated by using grain parameters of a rocket motor. The results of the calculation and design show that the star tandem grain can increase the engine grain weight, reduce ventilation parameters to improve the engine total impulse and thrust.
