Numerical Simulation of Anti-penetration of B₄C Ceramic/Metal Compound Target

Abstract

The penetration process of long rod projectile into ceramic/metal composite armor was simulated with LS-DYNA, and projectile penetrating into B₄C ceramic/metal compound target was simulated under different target structure, the whole picture of penetration and main data was gained. The simulation results show that the compound target board made of B₄C ceramics has good anti-ballistic property; B₄C ceramic/aluminum alloy board has excellent anti-penetration characteristic for projectile impact. The variation of B₄C ceramic/aluminum alloy target board's anti-penetration with thickness ration of target was obtained.
