The Effect of Eccentric Initiation on Shaped Charge Jet Formation

Abstract

The 3D computational simulation results of the jet formation in shaped charge under eccentric initiation were presented. These calculations were performed using finite element code LS-DYNA, and compared with X-Ray measurement. For this shaped charge configuration, the effect of 1mm off-center initiation on jet formation is very low, the lateral drift velocity increases drastically with 2mm off-axis initiation, and the shaped charge jet breaks severally into particles when the eccentric value increases.
