The Study on Proportional Navigation Based on the Method of Adjoint

The PN guidance model was established with the three error sources, heading error, angular noise and glint effect. Base on the method of adjoint and non-dimensional method, the adjoint model of the PN-guidance was obtained and the expression of non-dimensional miss distance was deduced. It is concluded that the induced miss distance has a close correlation with navigation constant N, system damp and bandwidth while a low system damp and bandwidth has adverse influence on miss distance. The induced miss distance does not decrease to zero but increase to a constant value with the increasing flight time of the engagement when angular noise and target glint was introduced in the system.
