Abstract

Due to the limit of nonuniform distribution of the selected guide stars, the complexity and slow speed of the present guide star selection methods, a novel fast guide star selection method was proposed. By selecting and retaining one guide star in the neighbourhood of each approximately homogeneous spired reference point, the distribution uniformity of the guide stars was satisfied. The k-vector method for searching candidate stars around the reference points was introduced to improve search speed. The'Separation-Magnitude' weighting method was proposed for evaluating candidate stars, the more reasonable guide stars were retained. The simulation results show that the guide stars selected by this method have particular uniformity, the method is realized fast and simply. The standard deviations of the number of the observable guide stars in the field of view(FOV) can be effectively reduced.
