The Research on Anti-fragment Performance of Sandwich Plate with Aramid Fiber Reinforced Composite Cores

Abstract

The defense performance of sandwich plate with aramid fiber reinforced composite cores against fragment was researched. By the numerical simulation of fragment simulation projectile (FSP) impacted on different kinds of sandwich plates with high velocity, the ballistic limits of fragment pierced 6 kinds of sandwich plates were obtained; The calculation formula of ballistic limit of fragment penetrating sandwich plate with fiber reinforced composite cores was fit. Under the fragment critical perforation, the relation between surface absorption of sandwich plate and structure size was studied by analyzing the numerical simulation results. The research results show that the surface absorption of target plate is quadratic function increments with the increase of fiber thickness. The conclusion can provide reference for the design of sandwich plate with fiber reinforced composite cores.
