Influence on Formation of Shaped Charge with a Center-hole

Abstract

In order to research on the influence of the center-hole on shaped charge's formation, the effort did the numerical simula-tion research on the center-hole shaped charge's formation process using the ANSYS/LS-DYNA software, revealed its formation mechanism, and studied the influence of six different sizes center-holes on its formation situation and the performance parameters. Test results showed that when the penetrator at a standoff of 3 CD, centerhole diameter accounted for 15%~20% of charge diam-eter, the forehead speed enhanced obviously, the penetrator shape was good, especially, when center-hole diameter accounted for 15% of charge diameter,the shape was best,the forehead speed was the highest.
