A Missile Guidance Law Used in Planar Interception Problem

Abstract

Aiming at the planar interception problem of missile, a new kind of non-linear geometric guidance law for intercepting the high maneuvering target by using missile-target geometric relationship was presented. First of all, the guidance relationship model was built, the use of relative motion relationship between missile and target could help us to derive the general form of nonlinear relative motion equations in plane interception problems, then the necessary condition of successful interception through mathematical method was analyzed. Computer simulations prove its wonderful performance for maneuvering targets. Compared with augmented proportional navigation law commonly used to attack a maneuvering targets, this guidance law has less miss distance when the missile requiring a large initial flight-path angle.
