Abstract

Solar array will suffer from debris impact during their service in orbit, The damage characteristics of hypervelocity impact solar array were simulated and the results were verified by the experiment in 3~5 km/s. The stress nephogram at different collision time and the curve of impact velocity and perforation diameter were obtained. The study results show that the oval perforation along the long axis and the short axis increases at first, then decreases and, tends to be stable at last with the impact velocity increasing when the impact point positioned in central. Numerical simulation and experimental results are basically consistent.
