Influence of Reynolds Number on Jet Atomization of Molten TNT

The treatment of used ammunition is a key subject in the world, and the disposal of explosives inside used ammunition is essential. Most of the explosives are TNT. The melting point of TNT is low and it can easily be converted into a molten state.Based on the traditional idea of combustion destruction, TNT can be atomized and then burned and destroyed to achieve controlled combustion in the laboratory. Based on FLUENT simulation software, this paper simulates and calculates the atomization process of molten TNT, and explores the influence of Reynolds parameters such as speed and material properties on atomization. It is found that the low Reynolds number shooting speed decays faster along the axis and the high-speed zone of the extended speed is longer. The airflow of high Reynolds number is spiral, the speed along the axis attenuation is slower, the spread-speed zone of the high-speed zone is shorter. Material properties have less effect on atomization, but from the calculation results, materials can be divided into two groups with the same laws but independent of each other.
