Autopilot Design Based on Fuzzy Logic for a Dual-controlled Missile

A pitch plane fuzzy logical autopilot was designed for a missile simultaneously controlled by aft tails and reaction jets when economic control usage was considered. The designed nonlinear mapping from the error signals to the control signals according to expert experience makes the conflict between the two competitive control mechanisms in steady state be avoided. The method of designing fuzzy logic controller applied to a dual controlled missile plant and the corresponding simulation results of dual control and aero-only control were presented. It is shown that the designed dual control system has great superiority in rapid response and fuel economization.
