Influence of Booster Bias on Lethality of Premade Fragmentation Warhead of Bomblet

In order to provide a reference for design of ammunition system and explosive train in fuze, based on a medium-sized bomblet, theoretical calculation of the initial velocity theory of fragment, simulation analysis by ANSYS/LS-DYNA and experiment were applied. Distribution of initial velocity of fragmentation warhead with different eccentric booster of bomblet was obtained. The results show that compared with center detonating propagation system, the fragment initial velocity of eccentric detonation propagation system increases as increase of the distance between fragment and booster. The initial velocity difference between fragment increases with increase of location of booster. While eccentric distance is 9 mm, the enhancement of initial velocity of fragment can reach 7.28%-8.28%, which has little effect on lethal symmetry of bomblet warhead fragments, therefore, the eccentric detonation structure required by fuze safety design is feasible.
