Comparative Analysis on Structural Improvement and PerformanceSimulation of Electromagnetic Railgun

Electromagnetic railgun is the main research type of electromagnetic launcher. The traditional railgun and augmented railgun have the problems of rail ablation, uneven armature force and excessive current concentration. In view of the shortages of railgun types currently studied, this paper designs an improved structure of the railgun. The basic models of the traditional railgun, plane augmented railgun, stacked augmented railgun and improved railgun are compared and analyzed by using the method of modeling theory deduction and software simulation. The results show that the improved railgun has the advantages of simple and stable structure, large electromagnetic thrust and uniform current distribution.
