Abstract

An autonomous inertial navigation system (INS) was put forwards based on theory of finding north by gyro, rotation-modulation technology and characteristics of INS's error, which can be used to find north, measure latitude and navigate with high precision without any aided information. Basic theory of finding north, measuring latitude was presented, and rotation-modulation's effect to navigation was analyzed. It's validated by computer simulation that the system can provide azimuth with error less than 1' and relative position with error less than 1n mile.
