Design and Dynamic Simulation Analysis of a Tail FinStabilizer With a Sabot

Abstract

A tail fin stabilizer with a sabot was designed for terminal guided projectiles. The influence of the cylinder volume and inlet holes size on the separation of the sabot was calculated by establishing the model of cylinder charging and releasing gas. Then the influence of projectile rotation rate at the muzzle on tail wings opening and locking was calculated by establishing the dynamic model of tail mechanism. Finally, the results showed that the sabot was normally thrown away, and the tail wings were reliably opened and locked.
