The Design of A Circumferential Forward Missile-borne Dielectric Rod Array Antenna

Abstract

According to probing requirement of missile-borne antenna probing system, a millimeter-wave dielectric antenna array was designed. Six antenna units were evenly mounted on projectile circumferential that were feed through waveguide, forming medium array antenna. The basic theory and design methods were described and design dimensions were given. ANSOFT HFSS simulation results show that the axial radiation patterns lean forward 30°, the circumferential radiation pattern is nearly circular, the VSWR <2 at working bandwidth 38 ~39 GHz, and the antenna highest gains reach 11 dB. This array antenna can be used for related projects.
