The Influence of Apical Charge Height on Shaped Charge with Waveshaper

In order to get optimal apical charge height for better penetration of the shaped charge(SC) with waveshaper, seven different shaped charges were designed. Compared to three rounds of static penetration experiments, the finite-element code LS-DYNA was used to do the numerical simulation on the detonation wave propagation in the main charge, jet formation and penetrating into RHA target. The result shows that with the apical charge height in the SC increasing, the penetration depth first increases and then decreases and there is an optimum apical charge height in every definite SC. The conclusion is that while liner angle is 60°, the optimum is 22.5mm and with liner angle increasing, the optimum of apical charge height will increase gradually.
