Derivation and Analysis of CRLB for Moving Multi-station Passive Location Based on TDOA

Abstract

The problem of position accuracy in moving multi-station passive location system was investigated based on TDOA. According to the theory of the least square error unbias estimate, a location precision method based on Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) for multi-station TDOA location systems was deduced, and the factors including the multi-station configuration, the measure precision and the sampling speed, which affecting the location precision were also analyzed. It is concluded that a favourable configuration of receivers and faster measure velocity will improve the location precision. The theory analysis and simulation results are useful for confirming technique guide line in moving multi-station passive location system.
