Abstract

The normal penetration of sharp head projectile carrying a sample into concrete target was simulated using numerical simulation tools of LS-DYNA. A penetration model of sharp head projectile with different geometrical properties was presented. The simulation results indicate that the deceleration crest value and impulse width of projectile with a short taper head are bigger than that with an oval head one. The charge overload near nose is more than that positioned in middle. The simulation result accords with experiment and reference is provided for safety, reliability evaluation and design of hard target penetration small mass charge and projectile.
