Abstract

To reduce the edge sawtooth and blur of image during the digital image interpolation, an improved image interpolation method based on symmetric edge relativity was proposed. Image edge was got with edge-detection algorithm; the max-relativity direction of edge pixel was set to the edge-direction. For image pixel with no edge-direction, the interpolation was done with traditional interpolation method. For image pixel with edge-direction, interpolation was implemented along the edge direction. Simulation results show that the proposed method can improve the operation efficiency and remove the sawtooth and blur at the edge.
