A Mew Method of Source Number Estimation Based on Fourth-order Cumulant

The approach of estimating the number of signals based on information theoretic criteria at the fourth-order cumulant is a failure. In order to solve this problem, a new method of number estimation was proposed in this paper. Based on the characteristic of the value which is complementary with the eigenvalue, the divergences degree of the noise eigenvalue was reduced, and then the information theoretic criteria were used to estimate the number of the sources. This method has the advantages of low computational complexity and could apply to the space colored noise. The simulation analysis proves the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
