In order to avoid ballistic instability and increase the penetration depth during the process of non-normal penetration, the penetra tion trajectory of different projectiles’shape was studied by means of theoretical calculation and numerical simulation in this paper. Com pared with projectiles with cylindrical body, projectiles with conical body increase the contact area with the wall of penetration ballistic hole, and stability moment weakens the adverse effect caused by deflection moment. Therefore, projectiles with conical body enhance the penetration ballistic stability. Besides, the offset of penetration ballistic decreases with the increase of conical body’s half-cone angle and there exists an optimal half-cone angle makes vertical penetration depth be the largest.
