Abstract

In order to evaluate the vitiation effect of combustion heaters on the performance of supersonic combustion, numerical simulations of the flow field of the scramjet combustor were carried out. The method has been certified by the experimental results and the simulation values are in good agreement with the experimental values. The results indicate that when H2O and CO2 are present in vitiated air, the wall pressure and the combustion efficiency decrease in the combustor. The vitiation effect on the per formance of supersonic combustion in the case of the kerosene heater is lower than that in the case of hydrogen oxygen combustion heater, and the results of the kerosene heater are closer to the pure air than that of the hydrogen-oxygen combustion heater.
