Numerical Simulation and Experimental Research on Forming of Multimode Penetrators

In order to achieve integration of three damage modes from multimode warhead, and enhance the ability of radial dispersion of directional fragments, a structure of multimode warhead was proposed. Simulations of forming progress of the three mode penetrators were done, and the forming effects were validated by experiment. It could be concluded from the results that, EFP, JPC and directional fragments form respectively based on the warhead structure. Radial dispersion angle of the fragments could reach to 18°, and three modes are compatible.
