A Cognitive Imaging Method for Maneuvering Targets Based on RID Algorithm

Based on the distance-instantaneous Doppler (RID) algorithm in inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR), a cognitive imaging method for maneuvering targets is proposed. After recognition according to the 1D distance image acquired by a few of pulses, the bandwidth of the transmitted signal can be adjusted adaptively. Then in the RID algorithm, the effective time-frequency analysis set of azimuth resolution is determined, so that the times of time-frequency analysis can be reduced significantly. The simulation shows that this method can reduce both the consumption of radar bandwidth and the quantity of calculation of imaging while ensuring imaging quality.
