A Wideband DOA Algorithm Based on Data Matrix Focusing

The conventional wideband direction of arrival (DOA) algorithms based on coherent signal-subspace focusing have excellent spatial resolution ability and low signal-to-noise threshold. However, they must rely on the preliminary angle estimates to construct the corresponding focusing matrices. This paper presents a coherent wideband DOA algorithm without using the initial estimates of angles. The proposed method processes the array output vectors directly to construct the focusing matrices that aim at avoiding the influence of the predetermined angle estimates. Furthermore, the new method reduces the computational burden. Computer simulation results have proved that the provided algorithm is effective.
