Experimental Investigation on Propellant Transfer and Control of Pasty Propellant Ramjet

Abstract

Based on working mechanism of pasty propellant ramjet, test system of propellant transfer and control was developed and experimental investigations were performed to study transfer and control performances of pasty fuel-rich propellant. The results show that rheological characteristics of pasty fuel-rich propellant can be described by power law. The pressure loss of pipe can be calculated by the loss equation deduced from power law model with error lower than 3%. The greater change of flow has been achieved by smaller change of boost pressure, and the response time increases with the increase of propellant viscosity.
